God’s Promises from Psalms 103

- Psalms 103:1-12 (KJV) 1 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. 2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: 3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; 4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; 5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. 6 The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. 7 He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel. 8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. 9 He will not always chide: neither will he keep his anger for ever. 10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. 11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

This portion of Psalms 103 is rich with the promises of God and in this outline we are listing some of them so that in our daily walk with God, we can appropriate them and walk in faith and victory. As we praise and love the Lord He wants us to remember and not to forget all His blessings. We need to always enter into His presence with praise and thanksgiving and not just with the ’give me give me.’ " Psalm 103 blesses the Lord for "all his benefits," which include not only the forgiveness of sins, but also the lifting of shame. ... God attaches to the lowly and the unclean, raising them from their slime and crud. Where shame is concerned, God may be trusted to lift and to cleanse and to cloak us with love". - Melvin D. Hugen

I. Forgives us of all our sins.
- 1 John 1:7 (KJV) But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
- 1 John 1:9 (KJV) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
A. This is the most important event that can take place in our lives when we receive Christ as our own personal savior.
B. When Jesus healed the man on the bed put down from the ceiling, He first did the greatest miracle, He forgave his sins. This is the greatest miracle that can take place in our lives.
C. We can get to heaven with a sick body, but not a sick spirit. We must be born again.

II. He heals us of all our diseases.
- 1 Peter 2:24 (KJV) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
- Exodus 15:26 (KJV) And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.
   A. God still answers prayer and is the same forever and His Word never changes.
   B. The things impossible with man are possible with God. At this writing my mother is 96 and still doing well. In 1948 she was dying and no hope. She heard the gospel, was saved and healed and is still healed today. Praise the Lord!

III. He has redeemed us.
- 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
   A. Sometimes we forget the great price that was paid for us.
   B. God loves us more than we can ever comprehend.
   C. It costs God nothing, so far as we know, to create nice things; but to convert rebellious wills cost Him crucifixion. C. S. Lewis

IV. He has given us love and mercy.
- Titus 3:5 (KJV) Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
- Psalms 139:17 (KJV) How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!:18 If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
   A. When you fill discouraged, just take a few moments and start counting the blessings. You will feel much better.
   B. Among the attributes of God, although they are all equal, mercy shines with even more brilliance than justice.

V. He satisfies our mouth with good things.
- Rom 10:15 (KJV) And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
- Jer 5:25 (KJV) Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.
- Mat 7:11 (KJV) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
   A. This is more than just natural food. Many of us eat more than we need and it shows . This is the Word, we need the ’Milk of the Word’ the ’Bread from heaven’ and the ’Meat of the Word’ to grow in the Lord. It is the only way we will be truly satisfied.

VI. He renews our youth.
He does this as we wait on Him in prayer.
- Isa 40:31 (KJV) But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

VII. He never will remember our past sins when He forgives us. When God forgives He forgets.
(Heb 8:12 KJV) For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more. 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.

We need not "sin that grace may abound." We are sinners and need only to confess that grace may abound.

God bless you and yours!
