What God Requires From Us!
Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (KJV). And now, Israel, what doth the
LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to
walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy
God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the
commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee
this day for thy good?
We are pointing out in this outline 5 ways to help bring the
good gifts and needed things in our lives and families from God.
I. God's plan was given to Moses after a second visit to the
mountain and a 40 day fast.
A. This was to replace the tablets of stone that was broken because of
sin. This message was very important.
II. Moses in addition of the new tablets receive a message that
can lead to great blessings in our lives.
A. "for thy good"
1. The good things comes from God.
- James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is
from above...
III. The 5 requirements God gave Moses to give to us.
A. Doing them will be for our own good.
1. Fear (Trust) the Lord) Fear of God is trusting and
obeying.
a. We fear men so much because we fear God so
little.
b. Dr. B.J. Miller once said, "It is a great
deal easier to do that which God gives us to do, no matter how
hard it is, than to face the responsibilities of not doing it."
2. Walk in His ways, (Word)
a. We walk in His Word by doing the Word.
- James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and
not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
3. Love the Lord,
- 1 John 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of
God, when we love God, and keep his commandments
a. Whoever loves much, does much.
b. There is nothing you can to do make God love
you more! There is nothing you can do to make God love you less!
His love is Unconditional, Impartial, Everlasting, Infinite,
Perfect!
c. On the whole, God's love for us is a much
safer subject to think about than our love for Him. C.S. Lewis.
4. Serve God
a. Most people wish to serve God -- but in an
advisory capacity only.
b. As in the Lord's prayer 'this day'. We need to
serve God daily
5. Keep God's commandments
- 1 John 5:3 (KJV) For this is the love of God, that we
keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
OPEN YOUR HEART TO GOD AND HE WILL OPEN THE WINDOWS OF HEAVEN TO
HIS SALVATION AND ALL THE BLESSINGS THAT COME FROM GOD!
God bless you and
yours.
