TIME!
Today’s sermon is my today’s birthday message not only to others
but also to myself.
James 4:14
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is
your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little
time, and then vanisheth away. 15: For that ye ought to say, If
the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
I. Life
passes so quickly,
A. Today I am 81 years of age and I can say as all old people can say
life has passed fast, it seems a short time ago I was married in
1962.
B. The Bible tells us we can expect
- Psalms 90:10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and
if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their
strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly
away.
1. For the believer we fly away to be with the Lord.
2. If more that means we continue in the Grace of God serving
Him until He calls us home.
II. We need
to redeem the time God gives us.
A. Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without,
redeeming the time.
B. I recently learned that among some branches of Judaism, a man who has
reached the age of 83 will customarily celebrate a second bar
mitzvah, under the logic that a “normal” lifespan is 70 years,
so that an 83-year-old can be considered 13 in a second
lifetime. (Jewish boys normally celebrate their first bar
mitzvah at age 13.)
III. Moses
was 80 when God called him to the ministry of delivering His
people.
A. God told him His Name was ‘I AM’.
1. Not the great I was, not the great I am going to be.
2. He is the great I AM.
- Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to
day, and for ever and
- Malachi 3:6 For I am the LORD, I change not;
3. He is the God of the Now!
IV. Behold,
now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
A. Today is the day to give your heart and life to Jesus and you will
redeem the time God has given you on earth. Then your early life
will become eternal life in Christ.
B. Romans 10:13 and John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them
gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that
believe on his name:
C. You can give me a Birthday present by hearing your gave your heart to
Jesus for Him to be your personal saviour.
God bless you and
yours.
On behalf of this generation,
Your friends in the service of Christ,
Tony and Marge Abram
