CUBA PAST & PRESENT MINISTRY REPORT, UPDATE!
VOL. 53 No. 5

Without writing you and telling you, Cuba is in the news. However, what the politicians and news media are seeing is what the Cuban government wants and lets them see and then permit them to report. Then they are giving great speeches new reports that seem to favor the Communist leaders to their great enjoyment, thinking that they are pulling the wool over their enemies eyes.

What truly should be seen is not being seen and reported is the suffering and poverty of the nation. We have been there and not just in Havana. We have seen the suffering of the Cuban people in their poverty. The average worker receives equivalent to 8 to 12 US dollars per month.

I first felt a burden for Cuba in January of 1960 while I was attending a conference in Minneapolis/St Paul, Minnesota with Pastor Barnett of Lorraine. Ohio. Ith was there, as a young single evangelist, my spiritual life was so stirred, enhanced and increased that it has never left me to this day.

The Word that I was already preaching as a 21 year old evangelist became alive in my spirit. If I ever received a double portion blessing, I did at that time. It was at that conference that I met the Frosts who were missionaries to Cuba. They were from Canada. I made plans with them to go to Cuba later in that year of 1960.

However, you may know that the Wall of Communism came down over Cuba. I was not allowed into Cuba. Thus my plan for my first missionary mission was closed. It remained closed for 51 years to me until we were finally able to go. Once again, we saw that God’s delay is not His denial. He has a perfect plan for us in life as we follow Him. Romans 8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

I remember telling the Cuban ministers in that first Worker’s Seminar that Marge and I had ministered over the many years, in every Spanish speaking country in the world, except one. That one was Cuba. I told that perhaps it looked like God had saved the best nation for last. You should have heard them shout and praise the Lord when we told them! It seemed the ceiling would fall.

It has been a great privilege over the 53 years Marge and I have been able to preach the Good News of the Gospel in every Spanish country in the world.

Leading lost souls to Christ

Two years earlier through our associate evangelist and representative for our Latin America ministry, Anatolio Rysko, we began to support 10 Cuban national mission workers. We began supporting them, yheir family and ministry with $30.00 to $50.00 per month.

Then the next year, one year before coming to minister in Cuba, we took on 20 more full time national workers. We have also helped the last few years in some special projects that we cannot make known so that no one will get into trouble.

Since then we have taken on 17 more Cuban workers bringing it to a total of 43. Of course, we could not do this without people just like you that pray and stand with us in faith.

Our Latin America Representative Anatolio Rysko has ministered and met with all of these precious workers in Cuba. He tells of thrilling testimonies from each of them. They are soul winners doing our Heavenly Father’s Will. He has been able to go and out to Cuba as he was born in Paraguay, lived in Argentina and has since become a citizen of Canada.

Cuba crusades were well attended

Travel restrictions to Cuba from Canada and Europe have been eased and now it is going to be so with the United States. Although, it is still difficult for American citizens to travel to Cuba. Though it would be good to see the door of 'SUGAR CURTAIN' opened and have the door of the Gospel. The talk so far is only talk of trade and tourism.

One thing I know inflation will sky rocket and it will be hard for the people. Much like it was in the former CIS but there they pressed toward democracy. In Cuba it looks it will remain a dictator communist country. The President of the USA said to the Cubans that there was not much difference between Communism and Democracy.

This is sad, we know one is godless. It will become more difficult support some many full time ministers in Cuba with rising and high inflation. however, we believe in Phil 4:19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Just think that for 30 to fifty dollars per month we can support a whole family of workers full time. There are tradesmen who can make that much in a hour in North America.

We believe that this is the time for a revival in Cuba that will bring in a great harvest before the Second Coming or our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Mat 24:14 (KJV) These workers do not have the freedoms we have in in our western nations.

Mat 5:11 (KJV) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

Flag of Cuba

Fidel Castro led a rebel army to victory in 1959; his iron rule held the regime together for nearly five decades. He stepped down as president in February 2008 in favor of his younger brother Raul Castro. Cuba's Communist revolution, with Soviet support, was exported throughout Latin America and Africa during the 1960s, 1970s.

Cuba is the largest Caribbean island, which also has the largest population, slightly smaller than the state of Pennsylvania with more than 11 million inhabitants. It is located about 90 miles south of Key West, Florida. The largest city of Cuba is La Havana which is also the country's capital.

The native population of Cuba began to decline after the European discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus in 1492. Large numbers of African slaves were imported to work the coffee and sugar plantations and Havana became the launching point for the annual treasure fleets bound for Spain from Mexico and Peru.

The greatest treasure in all of these countries are the precious souls. The Spanish ruled with a rod of iron. This eventually provoked an independence movement and rebellions that were suppressed.

US intervention during the Spanish-American War in 1898 assisted the Cubans in overthrowing Spanish rule. Please pray for Cuba and especially for the workers we are assisting there.

They want us back as soon as we can, We are told that we can have public meetings now. We hope to return to Cuba early in the New year. You have a part in the Harvest of souls.

God bless you and yours. We love you all.
