CUBA REPORT: 10 CHRISTIAN WORKERS & THEIR FAMILIES |
|
In January of 1960, I
went with a senior pastor to a conference in St Paul, Minnesota,
where up to that time was the coldest I had ever experienced. It was
30 degrees below zero.
However, my spiritual life was so stirred, enhanced and increased that it has never left me to this day. The Word that I was already preaching as a 21 year old evangelist became alive in my spirit. If I ever received a double portion blessing, I did at that time. It was at that conference that I met the Frosts who were missionaries to Cuba. They were from Canada. I made plans with them to go to Cuba later in that year of 1960. However, you know that the Wall of Communism came down over Cuba. I was not allowed into Cuba. Thus my plan for my first missionary mission was closed. Since that time, I have
had a burden for Cuba. 50 years later we are able to support the 10
pastors and evangelists with $50.00 per month and these are doing
what I was not able to do years ago.

Our Latin America Representative Anatolio Rysko has ministered and met with all of these precious workers in Cuba. He tells of thrilling testimonies from each of them. They are soul winners doing our Heavenly Father’s Will. He has been able to go to Cuba as he was born in Paraguay, lived in Argentina and has since become a citizen of Canada. Marge and I both feel that we will soon be preaching in Cuba. Supporting these workers is like preparation for future crusades and ministry. In the meantime we will be winning souls through these national workers we are supporting. We are believing to even support more that 10 in the near future. |
Travel restrictions to
Cuba from Canada and Europe have been eased, and there are even
non-stop flights from London to Havana. However, due to the United
States’ embargo, it is often difficult (but not impossible) for
American citizens to travel to Cuba.
We trust that someday soon, we will go there in person and minister in crusades, seminars and conferences. The native Amerindian population of Cuba began to decline after the European discovery of the island by Christopher Columbus in 1492 and following its development as a Spanish colony during the next several centuries. Large numbers of African slaves were imported to work the coffee and sugar plantations and Havana became the launching point for the annual treasure fleets bound for Spain from Mexico and Peru. The greatest treasure in all of these countries are the precious souls. The Spanish ruled with a rod of iron. This eventually provoked an independence movement and rebellions that were suppressed. US intervention during the Spanish-American War in 1898 assisted the Cubans in overthrowing Spanish rule. The Treaty of Paris established Cuban independence from the US in 1902 after which the island experienced a string of governments mostly dominated by military and corrupt politicians. |

Fidel Castro led a rebel
army to victory in 1959; his iron rule held the regime together for
nearly five decades. He stepped down as president in February 2008
in favor of his younger brother Raul Castro. Cuba's Communist
revolution, with Soviet support, was exported throughout Latin
America and Africa during the 1960s, 1970s.
Cuba is the largest Caribbean island, which also has the largest population, slightly smaller than the state of Pennsylvania with more than 11 million inhabitants. It is located about 150 km (90 miles) south of Key West, Florida between the Cayman Islands and the Bahamas, to the west of Haiti, and northwest of Jamaica. The largest city of Cuba is La Havana which is also the country's capital. Cuba’s weather is generally good all year round with the exception of a rainy season between May and October. |

Please lay your hands on the photos below and pray for these folks. We cannot give you much information on them as we do not want to cause any problems for them as info can get back to their own country. | |

Just think that for
fifty dollars per month we can support a whole family of workers
full time. There are tradesmen who can make that much in a hour or
so in North America.
We believe that this is the time for a revival in Cuba that will bring in a great harvest before the Second Coming or our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Mat 24:14 (KJV) These workers do not have the freedoms we have in in our western nations. Mat 5:11 KJV) Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. |
