My Child (and a second sermon: Directions to His House)
- March 19, 2003

You may not know me, but I know everything about you
(Psa 139:1 KJV) To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. O LORD, thou hast searched me, and known me.

I know when you sit down and when you rise up
(Psa 139:2 KJV) Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

I am familiar with all your ways
(Psa 139:3 KJV) Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

Even the very hairs on your head are numbered
(Mat 10:29 KJV) Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
(Mat 10:30 KJV) But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
(Mat 10:31 KJV) Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

For you were made in my image
(Gen 1:27 KJV) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

In me you live and move and have your being
(Acts 17:28 KJV) For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

For you are my offspring
(Acts 17:28 KJV) For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

I knew you even before you were conceived
(Jer 1:4 KJV) Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
(Jer 1:5 KJV) Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

I chose you when I planned creation
(Eph 1:11 KJV) In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
(Eph 1:12 KJV) That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

You were not a mistake, for all your days are written in my book
(Psa 139:15 KJV) My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
(Psa 139:16 KJV) Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

I determined the exact time of your birth and where you would live
(Acts 17:26 KJV) And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

You are fearfully and wonderfully made
(Psa 139:14 KJV) I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

I knit you together in your mother's womb
(Psa 139:13 KJV) For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

And brought you forth on the day you were born
(Psa 71:6 KJV) By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise shall be continually of thee.

Those who don’t know me have misrepresented me
(John 8:41 KJV) Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. (
(John 8:42 KJV) Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
(John 8:43 KJV) Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
(John 8:44 KJV) Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

I am not distant and angry, but am the complete expression of love
(1 John 4:16 KJV) And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

And it is my desire to lavish my love on you ,Simply because you are my child and I am your father
(1 John 3:1 KJV) Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

I offer you more than your earthly father ever could
(Mat 7:11 KJV) If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

For I am the perfect father
(Mat 5:48 KJV) Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Every good gift that you receive comes from my hand
(James 1:17 KJV) Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

For I am your provider and I meet all your needs
- (Mat 6:31 KJV) Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
(Mat 6:32 KJV) (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
(Mat 6:33 KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

My plan for your future has always been filled with hope
(Jer 29:11 KJV) For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

Because I love you with an everlasting love
(Jer 31:3 KJV) The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

My thoughts toward you are countless as the sand on the seashore
(Psa 139:17 KJV) How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!
(Psa 139:18 KJV) If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

And I rejoice over you with singing
(Zep 3:17 KJV) The LORD thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

I will never stop doing good to you
(Jer 32:40 KJV) And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me.

For you are my treasured possession
(Exo 19:5 KJV) Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:

I desire to establish you with all my heart and all my soul
(Jer 32:41 KJV) Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.

And I want to show you great and marvelous things
Jer 33:3 KJV) Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

If you seek me with all your heart, you will find me
(Deu 4:29 KJV) But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.

Delight in me and I will give you the desires of your heart
(Psa 37:4 KJV) Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

For it is I who gave you those desires
(Phil 2:13 KJV) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

I am able to do more for you than you could possibly imagine for I am your greatest encourager
(Eph 3:20 KJV) Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
(2 Th 2:16 KJV) Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
(2 Th 2:17 KJV) Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.

I am also the Father who comforts you in all your troubles
(2 Cor 1:3 KJV) Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
(2 Cor 1:4 KJV) Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

When you are brokenhearted, I am close to you
(Psa 34:18 KJV) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

As a shepherd carries a lamb, I have carried you close to my heart
(Isa 40:11 KJV) He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.

One day I will wipe away every tear from your eyes And I'll take away all the pain you have suffered on this earth
(Rev 21:3 KJV) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
(Rev 21:4 KJV) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

I am your Father, and I love you even as I love my son, Jesus
(John 17:23 KJV) I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.

For in Jesus, my love for you is revealed
(John 17:26 KJV) And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

He is the exact representation of my being
(Heb 1:3 KJV) Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

He came to demonstrate that I am for you, not against you
(Rom 8:31 KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

And to tell you that I am not counting your sins Jesus died so that you and I could be reconciled
(2 Cor 5:18 KJV) And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
(2 Cor 5:19 KJV) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

His death was the ultimate expression of my love for you.
(1 John 4:10 KJV) Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

I gave up everything I loved that I might gain your love.
(Rom 8:31 KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
(Rom 8:32 KJV) He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

If you receive the gift of my son Jesus, you receive me.
(1 John 2:23 KJV) Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.

And nothing will ever separate you from my love again...
(Rom 8:38 KJV) For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
(Rom 8:39 KJV) Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Come home and I'll throw the biggest party heaven has ever seen... (Luke 15:7 KJV) I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.

I have always been Father, and will always be Father
(Eph 3:14 KJV) For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
(Eph 3:15 KJV) Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,

My question is...Will you be my child?
(John 1:12 KJV) But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
(John 1:13 KJV) Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

I am waiting for you.
(Luke 15:11 KJV) And he said, A certain man had two sons:
(Luke 15:12 KJV) And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
(Luke 15:13 KJV) And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
(Luke 15:14 KJV) And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
(Luke 15:15 KJV) And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
(Luke 15:16 KJV) And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him
(Luke 15:17 KJV) And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
(Luke 15:18 KJV) I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
(Luke 15:19 KJV) And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
(Luke 15:20 KJV) And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
(Luke 15:21 KJV) And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
(Luke 15:22 KJV) But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
(Luke 15:23 KJV) And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
(Luke 15:24 KJV) For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
(Luke 15:25 KJV) Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard music and dancing.
(Luke 15:26 KJV) And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
(Luke 15:27 KJV) And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
(Luke 15:28 KJV) And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and entreated him.
(Luke 15:29 KJV) And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
(Luke 15:30 KJV) But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
(Luke 15:31 KJV) And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
(Luke 15:32 KJV) It was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.

Love, Your Dad, Almighty God
